Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize scalable cloud infrastructure using tools like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, OpenStack, and cloud-native services such as S3 and REST APIs.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and configuration management using Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, PowerShell, Bash (Unix shell), and Shell Scripting to streamline deployment pipelines.
- Manage containerization platforms including Docker and Kubernetes to facilitate microservices architecture deployment across distributed systems.
- Oversee system administration tasks on UNIX/Linux distributions such as CentOS, Red Hat, WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss, and Microsoft Windows Server environments.
- Implement continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines utilizing Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab, TFS (Team Foundation Server), and Maven for software development projects.
- Monitor application performance with tools like New Relic, Splunk, Elasticsearch, and ensure system health through proactive incident management and disaster recovery planning.
- Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot software issues related to Java (JavaScript, Groovy, Go), C#, Ruby on Rails, Node.js,.NET applications; support release management and software quality assurance processes.
- Maintain security best practices by configuring firewalls, TCP/IP protocols, DNS settings, VPNs (WAN/LAN), Active Directory integration, and incident response procedures.
Experience
- Proven experience in DevOps engineering or systems engineering roles with a focus on cloud computing environments such as AWS or Azure.
- Strong background in system administration across UNIX/Linux platforms including CentOS or Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Hands-on expertise with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker Swarm.
- Extensive knowledge of scripting languages including Python, PowerShell, Bash (Unix shell), Perl or Ruby for automation tasks.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet or Chef; experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- Demonstrated ability to implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD; experience with Maven or Gradle build tools is advantageous.
- Experience in monitoring solutions like New Relic or Splunk; proficiency in troubleshooting distributed systems and performing root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP protocols, DNS configuration, firewall management and VPN setup for secure connectivity.
- Understanding of database systems such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle; experience with SQL/PLSQL scripting is preferred.
- Familiarity with SaaS platforms and microservices architecture; experience supporting web services (RESTful APIs) is highly desirable.

Pay: £52,291.27-£70,404.89 per year
