As Senior Solutions Architect, you will own solution design and technical delivery for Woolman’s Shopify clients end-to-end, helping global brands run on Shopify.
If you're the kind of architect who wants to own solution design end-to-end – and help build the AI-agent-driven way Woolman delivers it – this is your next challenge.
Key points about the role at a glance

✅ Work with well-known international brands migrating from platforms like Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Centra or Magento onto Shopify Plus.
✅ Combine hands-on architecture with pre-sales, technical discovery and mentoring – real breadth of impact.
✅ Join a flat, trust-based team with colleagues already based in Finland, Sweden and the UK, and genuinely good work-life balance.
✅ Salary:From £72 000, depending on experience.
Why this role matters, and why it might be your next move
If you're a senior architect who wants real ownership of solution design instead of executing someone else's blueprint, this is your kind of challenge.
Woolman's mission is simple: help ecommerce brands move onto Shopify and keep growing on it, without technical debt holding them back.
Woolman is already using an AI-agent-driven delivery approach (Claude Code, Cowork), and using it more every month – but it's not yet a standardized, mature practice. You won't be starting from a blank page: you'll take a direction that's already begun and turn it into a repeatable method the whole delivery team can run, while owning solution architecture end-to-end on projects that move brands from platforms such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Centra or Magento onto Shopify Plus.
This role is ideal if you're at a point in your career where you want to:
- Own solution architecture end-to-end – scoping, integration design, go-live – instead of just implementing someone else's design.
- Move from hands-on development into a role that blends deep technical ownership with pre-sales, mentoring and client consulting.
- Help define how AI coding agents are used across an entire delivery team, not just your own workflow.
What you'll do as our Senior Solutions Architect
As Senior Solutions Architect, you'll own solution design and technical delivery for Woolman's Shopify clients end-to-end. Right now, solution architecture on these projects is shared across Lead Consultants as time allows. This role gives you sole, end-to-end ownership of it – from the first scoping call through go-live, on migrations that move brands from platforms like Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Centra or Magento onto Shopify Plus. Here's what that looks like in practice:
- Own solution architecture and technical design end-to-end for replatforming projects: scoping, integration design and go-live plans.
- Take full ownership of a client's technical scope – including how their business actually runs, from order fulfillment to how finance wants its reports.
- Lead technical discovery/scoping on new opportunities and support pre-sales, including paid discovery engagements.
- Establish or significantly upgrade Woolman's agent-driven delivery model – setting clear standards for what the agent delivers and what a human writes.
- Mentor the delivery team and help shape engineering and recruiting standards.
- Work across several clients and projects at the same time.
What you'll bring
We're looking for a senior architect who's just as comfortable inside a codebase as in a client conversation. You likely bring most of the following:
- Proven, hands-on production delivery on at least one serious ecommerce platform – Shopify Plus, Salesforce Commerce Cloud/Demandware, Magento/Adobe Commerce, custom/headless, BigCommerce or commercetools – including the integration “scars”: ERP, PIM, OMS/fulfillment, orders, payments. Given the UK's more mature Shopify Plus ecosystem, direct Shopify Plus experience is common here and a strong plus, though not the only path in.
- Genuine full-stack range: TypeScript/Node, React/Next.js, some Python, API and data design, systems integrations.
- Practical, hands-on experience with AI coding agents – you use them to multiply your own output, know where they speed delivery up and where they add risk, and can set team-level standards.
- Client-facing consulting experience, ideally including pre-sales or paid discovery work.
- Clear communicator with clients and your own team, with a genuine drive to mentor others.
- Self-driven: you know what to prioritize and when to ask for help – Woolman is still young, so not everything has a ready-made process.
Above all, you combine deep technical craft with intellectual honesty – you tell clients what's actually true rather than what's easy to hear, and you're just as comfortable setting architecture standards as you are mentoring the people who'll run with them.
What success looks like
In 1 month: You've mapped out how Woolman delivers – the Shopify stack, the replatforming playbook, ongoing development accounts – and sat in on live client work, a discovery call and at least one pre-sales conversation. You've assessed current engineering standards and how the team works with AI agents today, and delivered one visible early win.
In 3 months: You've owned solution architecture end-to-end on at least one replatforming project, led technical discovery on a new opportunity, and helped establish or meaningfully upgrade the agent-driven delivery model, with an early measurable benefit.
In 12 months: You're a trusted architect across multiple accounts – replatforming delivery is measurably faster and better thanks to a repeatable AI-agent method, the delivery team's level has risen through your mentoring, and you're contributing steady pipeline through pre-sales and paid discovery.
The people you'll work with
You'll join Woolman's delivery and account teams, working closely with Lead Consultants, the sales team and the wider engineering team – including colleagues already based in the UK.
- Your team: you'll pair with a Lead Consultant depending on the client, support the sales team on pre-sales and technical discovery (occasional, not a standing sales quota), and mentor the delivery team.
- Culture: flat and trust-based – independence and initiative are expected from day one, and processes are still evolving as the company grows. There are no line managers checking in on you – if you own something, you're expected to flag the bad news early, not just the good.
- Work-life balance: our pace isn't frantic, but you're expected to see things through yourself rather than pass them along.
Benefits & salary
We value transparency. Here's what you can expect when you join Woolman – specific details may vary by location, and we'll go through them with you during the hiring process.
- Work–life balance: Flexible hours and real autonomy over how you split your time between architecture, mentoring and client work.
- Tools & setup: You choose your own work tools and equipment.
- Health & wellbeing: Health benefits in line with UK practice – details confirmed during the hiring process.
- Location & remote work: Remote, based anywhere in the UK – you'll join existing UK-based colleagues who already work this way.
- Salary: From £72 000, depending on experience.
