Freelance contract | Fully remote | £500–£800 per day
Initially 3–4 days per week | Immediate start
Build the online experience for a company aiming to lead the world in age-tech
Help Alert 24 is a fast-growing UK age-tech company providing personal alarm watches, GPS devices and 24-hour emergency support to older people and their families.
Our products allow someone to press a button and speak directly through their watch or pendant to a 24-hour Emergency Control Room—at home, in the garden, in the shower or while they are out.
We are not looking for someone to maintain an ordinary Shopify website.
We are building a rapid ecommerce experimentation capability that can take a new proposition from idea to functioning customer experience in hours or days—not weeks.
We already use AI, including Claude, to develop landing pages, customer journeys, propositions, copy and creative concepts. We now need an exceptional person who can take those ideas, improve them where necessary, implement them properly, connect them to our commercial systems and launch controlled experiments that increase sales.
This is a hands-on building role.
You will be expected to produce working previews, functioning customer journeys and live experiments—not presentations explaining what somebody else should build.
The mission
Your mission will be to help turn Help Alert 24 into the world’s leading direct-to-consumer age-tech company.
You will own the journey between:
- A new commercial idea.
- An AI-generated page or prototype.
- A working Shopify experience.
- A live A/B test.
- Reliable commercial data.
- A winning version being deployed.
An example assignment might be:
Take this Claude-generated FallWatch landing page, implement it within Shopify, connect it to the correct product and subscription journey, create two mobile-first variants, install the appropriate tracking, test the checkout and launch a controlled experiment.
We would expect the first working preview quickly—potentially on the same day for a straightforward page.
What you will do
You will:
- Turn Claude-generated concepts and code into polished, functioning ecommerce experiences.
- Build and launch landing pages, product pages, advertorials, comparison pages and campaign-specific customer journeys.
- Create rapid variants for older customers purchasing for themselves and adult children purchasing for a parent.
- Connect pages correctly to Shopify products, subscriptions, trials, payments and checkout.
- Implement and manage A/B and split-URL experiments.
- Test headlines, propositions, offers, pricing presentation, trial structures, page layouts, trust signals, demonstrations and calls to action.
- Ensure experiments are technically valid and commercially measurable.
- Configure analytics events, conversion tracking and call tracking.
- Measure online orders, telephone enquiries, trial starts, device activations, trial-to-paid conversion and retained customer value.
- Build reusable components that allow successful pages to be reproduced rapidly.
- Use Claude Code and other AI tools to accelerate development, debugging, content production and iteration.
- Produce reliable mobile experiences for an audience that may have reduced vision, hearing or dexterity.
- Conduct rapid quality assurance across devices and browsers.
- Identify and fix broken tracking, checkout friction and technical conversion problems.
- Issue working preview links for review.
- Launch approved changes safely and retain a clear rollback route.
- Document experiments, results and reusable learnings without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Work directly with the founders and senior team.
The standard we expect
For a normal landing-page assignment, you should be capable of:
- Understanding the brief immediately.
- Identifying genuine blockers without turning the assignment into a workshop.
- Producing a functioning first preview within 24–48 hours.
- Creating credible mobile and desktop versions.
- Connecting the real product and purchase journey.
- Installing the required analytics and conversion events.
- Testing the complete journey yourself.
- Preparing and launching an A/B test.
- Reporting what happened commercially.
- Implementing the winner.
We value intelligent action.
We do not expect silent compliance when a request creates a legal, technical, payment or customer-safety risk. We do expect you to distinguish a genuine blocker from a matter that can be solved through initiative and sound judgement.
Your first 30 days
Within your first month, we expect you to have:
- Audited the existing Help Alert 24 Shopify and analytics setup.
- Established a safe, fast preview and release process.
- Implemented at least one major new landing-page journey.
- Launched the first properly instrumented A/B test.
- Created reusable page sections and patterns.
- Connected online purchases, trial requests and telephone calls to a clear reporting structure.
- Identified the most important technical and conversion leaks.
- Reduced the time between an approved idea and a working customer preview.
- Established a practical experiment backlog based on commercial impact.
Essential capabilities
You must be able to demonstrate strong practical experience in several of the following:
- Shopify ecommerce implementation.
- Shopify Liquid, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Claude, Claude Code or comparable AI coding systems.
- Rapid AI-assisted development.
- Ecommerce conversion experimentation.
- A/B testing and split-URL testing.
- Replo or another modern Shopify landing-page system.
- Shoplift, Intelligems, VWO, Convert, Optimizely or comparable experimentation platforms.
- Shopify Analytics and GA4.
- Google Tag Manager.
- Event and conversion tracking.
- Subscription or recurring-revenue ecommerce.
- GitHub and controlled deployments.
- Mobile-first ecommerce.
- Page-speed and accessibility optimisation.
- Debugging complete purchase journeys.
- Translating commercial ideas into functioning experiences.
You do not need to have used every tool listed. You must be technically confident enough to learn unfamiliar systems quickly and select appropriate tools without creating unnecessary complexity.
Commercial understanding
You must understand that the objective is not merely to increase button clicks.
Our important outcomes include:
- Completed purchases.
- Qualified telephone calls.
- Trial starts.
- Successfully activated devices.
- Trial-to-paid conversion.
- Annual-plan adoption.
- Reduced abandonment.
- Lower acquisition cost.
- Reduced early cancellation.
- Increased retained customer value.
You should be comfortable challenging a vanity metric when it does not represent a meaningful commercial improvement.
Experience with older customers
Previous age-tech, telecare or healthcare experience is helpful but not essential.
However, you must be interested in designing outstanding digital experiences for older people.
You will need to consider:
- Readability.
- Visual contrast.
- Button size.
- Plain English.
- Trust.
- Anxiety around online payment.
- Telephone conversion.
- Hearing and visual accessibility.
- Clear pricing.
- The involvement of adult children.
- Avoiding patronising or fear-based design.
The strongest candidate will see this audience as an enormous design and commercial opportunity—not a reason to make the internet dull.
This role is not suitable for someone who
- Primarily produces recommendations for other people to implement.
- Requires a designer, developer and analyst before they can launch anything.
- Cannot show functioning ecommerce work.
- Treats AI as a novelty or occasional writing assistant.
- Builds attractive pages without reliable analytics.
- reports conversion improvements without understanding statistical validity.
- Needs several weeks to launch a straightforward landing page.
- Relies entirely on pre-built themes.
- Optimises for visual awards rather than customer action.
- Cannot test their own work.
- Wants a conventional maintenance role.
- Is uncomfortable taking ownership.
The person we want
You may currently describe yourself as a:
- AI product engineer.
- Ecommerce experimentation lead.
- Conversion engineer.
- Creative technologist.
- Technical CRO specialist.
- Shopify experimentation specialist.
- AI-native ecommerce builder.
- Full-stack growth engineer.
Your present title matters less than what you can build.
You are likely to be someone who:
- Uses AI every day.
- Builds unusually quickly.
- Has excellent visual and commercial judgement.
- Enjoys turning rough concepts into polished experiences.
- Can work independently.
- Notices details.
- Tests complete journeys personally.
- Is excited by measurable commercial outcomes.
- Prefers showing a working preview to discussing a hypothetical solution.
- Wants meaningful ownership inside an ambitious company.
Working arrangement
This is a fully remote freelance contract.
We are open to candidates based anywhere, but you must:
- Have substantial overlap with UK working hours.
- Communicate clearly in written and spoken English.
- Be available for rapid collaboration during agreed hours.
- Have a reliable working environment and internet connection.
- Be comfortable working directly with company founders.
- Be able to begin quickly.
The initial requirement is expected to be approximately three to four days per week, with the potential to increase depending on performance, workload and mutual agreement.
The advertised rate is £550–£700 per day, depending on the strength and relevance of your evidence.
Engagement and tax status will be confirmed according to the final working arrangement and appropriate assessment.
How we will select
We are deliberately keeping the recruitment process practical.
Stage one: Evidence
Send us:
- Three examples of ecommerce experiences you personally implemented.
- At least one example of an A/B test or commercial experiment you launched.
- The time taken from initial brief to working release.
- What you personally completed rather than what the wider team delivered.
- The tools and AI systems you currently use.
- A short explanation of how you would turn a Claude-generated landing page into a safe, measurable Shopify experiment within 48 hours.
- Your preferred day rate and availability.
Where possible, provide live URLs, preview recordings, experiment screenshots or anonymised data.
Do not send a generic agency portfolio without explaining your direct contribution.
Stage two: Short video conversation
We will discuss:
- How you work.
- How quickly you can ship.
- How you protect a live ecommerce operation.
- How you distinguish a good experiment from random variation.
- How you would approach an older customer purchasing a personal alarm online.
- What you would aim to deliver during your first month.
Stage three: Paid practical assignment
Shortlisted candidates will be paid to complete a controlled practical assignment.
You will receive:
- A Claude-generated FallWatch concept.
- Approved copy and assets.
- Access to an unpublished development environment.
- A test Shopify product.
- Defined conversion events.
- Clear restrictions preventing live publication.
You will be asked to produce:
- Two functioning landing-page variants.
- Mobile and desktop versions.
- A working test purchase journey.
- Analytics and conversion tracking.
- An A/B testing approach.
- A working preview.
- A concise handover identifying assumptions and unresolved items.
The assignment will test speed, judgement, implementation quality and commercial understanding.
A presentation without a functioning experience will not satisfy the assignment.
