We are looking for a Principal Data Architect who can take ownership of our enterprise data architecture strategy. You will work across engineering, analytics, product, and business teams to design modern data solutions that are secure, scalable, and built for long-term growth. You will be a key technical voice, helping translate complex business requirements into practical and sustainable data architecture.

Key Responsibilities:
Data Architecture Ownership: Define, maintain, and evolve enterprise data architecture standards, reference architectures, and technical patterns across the organization.
End-to-End Architecture: Lead the design of data solutions from initial requirements and conceptual models through implementation, integration, optimization, and long-term operational support.
Technical Leadership: Provide architectural guidance to data engineers, software engineers, analysts, and technical stakeholders. Review proposed solutions and help teams make sound technical decisions.
Data Platform Strategy: Evaluate and improve data platforms, pipelines, storage technologies, integration patterns, and processing frameworks to support reliability, scalability, and performance.
Data Governance: Establish and promote practices for data quality, lineage, security, privacy, metadata management, and access control across critical data assets.
Stakeholder Management: Work closely with business leaders, product teams, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate architectural decisions clearly.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience: 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, software engineering, or a closely related field, with significant experience designing enterprise-scale data solutions.
Architecture Expertise: Strong understanding of data modeling, distributed systems, data integration, cloud architecture, data warehousing, data lakes, APIs, and modern data platforms.
Cloud Knowledge: Practical experience with at least one major cloud ecosystem such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
Technical Skills: Strong SQL and data engineering knowledge, with experience working with technologies such as Python, ETL or ELT frameworks, relational and NoSQL databases, and modern analytics platforms.
Leadership: You can influence technical direction without relying solely on formal authority. You are comfortable mentoring engineers, facilitating architecture discussions, and communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Mindset: You are pragmatic and business-minded. You understand that good architecture balances scalability, security, performance, maintainability, cost, and delivery speed rather than pursuing complexity for its own sake.
Pay: £6,135.00-£7,000.00 per month
