This internship is intended for students enrolled in their penultimate/final year of education in an accredited full-time PhD degree program located in the EMEA region. Participation in the internship program requires that you are located in the UK for the duration of the internship program. Interns will be required to be available to work full-time for a minimum of 13 weeks over the Summer 2027 (starting in either May, June or July) for the duration of the program. Individuals applying for this position will not be eligible for immigration sponsorship.

- Currently enrolled in a PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical field in the EMEA region, and in your penultimate/final year of education.
- Experience working with data structures and algorithms during coursework/projects, research, internships, or practical experience in school or work (e.g., open-source coding).
- Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, Go, etc.).
- Relevant practical or internship experience (e.g., research assistant, teaching assistant, personal projects, etc.) with programming in either: C++, Java, Python, or Go.

Research experience in algorithms, architecture, artificial intelligence, compilers, database, data mining, distributed systems, machine learning, networking, or systems.

Relevant practical or internship experience with one or more of the following: web application development, Unix/Linux, mobile application development, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, information retrieval, NLP, networking, developing large software systems, or security software development.

Ability to complete a 13-17 week full-time internship in the UK starting in either May, June or July 2027.

Software Engineering Intern:
As a key member of a versatile team, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs. You will work on software development projects to keep important business generating-critical systems up and running, from code-level troubleshooting of traffic anomalies to maintenance of our services; from monitoring and alerts to building automation infrastructure.
