The Yew Tree is a traditional country inn situated in the stunning Borrowdale Valley, surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery in the Lake District National Park. We are passionate about delivering exceptional food, warm hospitality, and memorable experiences for our guests.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Chef de Partie to join our growing kitchen team. This is an exciting opportunity for a chef who enjoys working with fresh ingredients, creating quality dishes, and developing their career in a unique countryside setting.

The Role
As Chef de Partie, you will be responsible for managing your own section of the kitchen, ensuring consistently high standards of food preparation and presentation. You will work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to deliver a quality dining experience whilst maintaining excellent hygiene and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Run and manage your designated kitchen section.
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes to a high standard.
- Ensure all food is served consistently and efficiently during service.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and health & safety practices.
- Assist with stock control, ordering, and stock rotation.
- Minimise waste and support cost-effective kitchen operations.
- Work collaboratively with the wider kitchen and front-of-house teams.
- Support the training and development of junior team members.
- Contribute ideas for menu development and seasonal specials.
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or an ambitious Commis Chef ready to step up.
- Passion for quality food and fresh ingredients.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure.
- Excellent team player with a positive attitude.
- Understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety procedures.
Desirable
- Experience within a gastro pub, restaurant, hotel, or similar hospitality environment.
- Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Experience working with seasonal and locally sourced produce.
