Full job description

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Fabricator Welder to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in TIG welding, good MIG welding ability, and an interest or experience in laser welding — an area where we are actively expanding as a business. You’ll work across a wide range of subcontract projects including sheet metal work, frame building, and bespoke fabrications, requiring adaptability and attention to detail.

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities:

Perform high-quality TIG welding on stainless steel, aluminium, and mild steel.
Carry out MIG welding when required.
Support the company’s move towards increased use of laser welding — either bringing existing laser welding experience or a willingness to train and develop in this area.
Fabricate and assemble sheet metal components, frames, and structures to engineering drawings and specifications.
Operate and maintain fabrication equipment, welding tools, and measuring instruments.
Complete grinding, cutting, and finishing work as part of the fabrication process.
Deliver work to high standards of accuracy, quality, and finish.
Ensure compliance with health & safety requirements.
Maintain flexibility to work on a variety of projects typical of a busy subcontract environment.

Person Specification

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

· Strong capabilities in TIG, particularly with light gauge materials (1–3mm), including stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminium.

· Basic MIG welding skills as a supporting process as minimum.

· Laser welding experience or a genuine interest in developing laser welding skills.

· Confident using fabrication machinery, hand tools, and measuring equipment.

· Skilled in sanding and dressing fabricated components to achieve high-quality finishes.

· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and apply specified tolerances accurately.

· Experience with MRP systems, including booking jobs on and off.

· Basic IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel (advantageous).

· Tidy, methodical approach to tasks and maintaining an organised workspace.

· Effective team player with a flexible and proactive attitude to meet changing work requirements.

· Awareness of computerisation in manufacturing environments.

· Good understanding of engineering quality standards and requirements.

· Good understanding of safe working practices and welding safety standards.
