At Sheffield Forgemasters we have an exciting opportunity for a CNC Machinist (Turner) to join our team.
This role is based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, and will be working as part of our Machine Shops) Our Machine Shops offer rough machining and finish machining to exacting tolerances, including complex shapes such as reactor heads for nuclear applications. The department hosts a vast array of milling, turning, boring and finishing machinery including the UK’s largest Vertical Turning Lathe and Horizontal Floor Borer.
As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient machining of large, high-value components within a heavy engineering environment.
What you’ll be doing

Operating manual and CNC lathes and where required milling and boring machines.

Working to complex engineering drawings.

Machining large steel castings and forgings to tight tolerances.

Slinging and crane driving, manoeuvring large components to facilitate machining operations.

Use of Continuous Improvement tools such as 6S to maintain standards.
About You
-
Experience in using both manual and CNC machines.
-
Extensive experience in Turning, multi-skilled in milling and boring is an advantage.

Experience machining in a heavy engineering or large-component environment.

Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings.

Ability to write and understand CNC programs.
-
Experience of crane driving and slinging is highly desirable.

The Working Pattern
This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week on a 3 shift rotation.
Mornings - 0600-13:20 Mon,Tues,Thurs,Fri, 0600- 1450 -Wed. Afternoons -13:00-2020 Mon -Thurs 13:00-2200 Fri. Nights 2000-0620 Mon -Thurs
