Asbestos Bulk Analyst

We are currently recruiting an Asbestos Bulk Analyst for our Bristol Laboratory. This is a full-time permanent position, 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri.

Job Specification

Logging samples received by the laboratory
Preparing samples for analysis
Asbestos Identification analysis bulk materials in accordance with HSE 248 Guidance notes
Other laboratory duties/assisting the Lab Supervisor as and when required *

Person Specification

Essential

BOHS P401 Identification of Asbestos in Bulk Samples or RSPH Level 3 Award in Asbestos Bulk Analysis
Relevant Asbestos Analyst experience in a UKAS accredited laboratory
Experience of Stereo and Polarised Light Microscopy techniques of analysis
Accuracy / excellent attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal skills
Ability to work well in team
Self-motivated
Good eyesight (with or without glasses) with good colour vision
Computer literacy – excellent in MS Word and Excel
Enthusiastic and adaptable
Good time management
Ability to work well under pressured

Desirable

BOHS P403 / RSPH qualification: asbestos in air monitoring/testing
Experience in quantification of asbestos in soils
Able to work overtime
