Consultant in Stroke Medicine

This post is located at Fairfield Hospital, part of the Northerncare Alliance.
The service is a national leading provider for stroke care and is part of the Manchester clinical neurosciences centre.
You would be joining a team of 24 other consultants (8 located at Fairfield) supported by a team of specialty doctors, middle grades and juniors.

The appointee will contribute to the acute stroke services located at Fairfield Hospital, joining colleagues in a diverse Stroke Consultant team comprising of consultant in Stroke Medicine, Neurology and Acute Medicine.
The post holder will be required to provide in-patient and outpatient stroke care whilst exercising considerable autonomy, while remaining responsible to the clinical leads and responsive to the varying needs of the department and its staff.
You will contribute to the provision of acute stroke specialist service delivering thrombolysis, thrombectomy and other specialist treatments. This will involve joining the stroke oncall rota.
Support and deputise for lead consultant in all departmental activities
Take responsibility for both in-patient and out-patient work
Undertake and lead junior team on ward rounds
Assist the Group in the achievement of all outpatient and in-patient waiting list targets and quality standards
Opportunities to undertake projects
Participate in on call and emergency stroke service cover
Duties are located at Fairfield, but these may be requirement or opportunity to work across sites (Fairfield and Salford).
