What you need to know about the role
Decarbonisation of the steel industry is key to our future, and none of that can happen without the ability of British Steel to move large amounts of electrical power around the sites to our new processes through High Voltage networks.
Our Power & Distribution department operates and maintains High Voltage equipment essential for safe and reliable operations of the site, supply to 3rd party consumers and some offsite facilities within North Lincolnshire.
You will be responsible for safe and effective maintenance task completion on High Voltage equipment, High Voltage Transformers, Protection Relays and ground scanning. You will report to the Maintenance Engineers & HV Electrical team leaders and liaise with plant electrical personnel.
You will also be expected to have high standards of safe working practices and where possible raise the benchmark for maintenance of equipment by the most efficient task completion.
You will be expected the have good communication skills to ensure task feedback and improvements in maintenance plans are obtained by communication to the team leaders.
High Voltage training will be provided as part of the High Voltage craft role.
What we need to know about you
You will be an experienced, time served electrical craftsperson with general electrical maintenance experience or relevant qualifications.
Valid UK driving license – since travel around on and off site will be required as part of the role.
You will need to be highly motivated, a good communicator with a high level of team skills but also be able to work on your own or in a small team.
Experience of high voltage craft work, signing for work permits and isolation permits is an advantage.
