Full job description

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 5 MONTHS DUE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE

The post holder will be expected to play a key role and to work autonomously in the operational and clinical leadership of image verification, delivery and all relevant processes within the Radiotherapy Department, including acting as the IR(ME)R entitled practitioner to authorise additional radiation exposures where justified (including treatment image verification and CT planning scans).

To be responsible for managing the image verification pathway for all relevant patients and ensuring adequate training, guidance and leadership for all relevant staff, to include fellow radiographers, students, dosimetrists, clinical scientist and clinical oncologists.

Ensure records are retained for all staff image training.
Manage a cohort of approximately (and above) 100 patients ensuring they have accurate, appropriate and consistent imaging and treatment.
Assist in the provision of all aspects of the radiotherapy service to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
Liaise with colleagues with a multidisciplinary approach to monitor and improve the service provided.
Support and train members of staff to maintain and develop professional and personal skills and standards, with image verification and IR(ME)R at the forefront.
Ensure that all IR(ME)R, IRR17, Health and Safety, Manual Handling and Quality Assurance regulations are adhered to.
Make professional judgements by applying a critical and analytical approach to all image verification situations. This is particularly important where deviations from protocol occur, and the justification of radiation exposure must be clearly addressed and documented.
To be responsible for their practice and to adhere to the professional code of conduct at all times.
