About the Role
We are a home décor company that designs products in-house and works closely with manufacturing partners in China and India. We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Product Development Assistant to support the Product Development Manager, with a focus on administration, sample coordination, and maintaining accurate product information. We will also require you to be able to maintain and merchandise showrooms and attend trade shows.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative & System Support
· Raise sample requests and ensure all details are recorded accurately.
· Update SLN, including uploading customer sample requests.
· Maintain spreadsheets and internal systems with accurate product information, dates, and costs.
· Support with general administrative tasks for the Product Development Manager.
Sample Management
· Unpack, organise, label, and process incoming samples.
· Keep Candlelight samples in the sample showroom tidy and presentable.
· Assist in the showroom, helping prepare for meetings and presentations.
· Catalogue and manage sample storage.
Supplier & Timeline Coordination
· Chase samples, pricing, and delivery dates with suppliers, especially in China and India.
· Track sample progress and follow up on approvals or changes.
· Communicate issues, delays, or updates to the Product Development Manager.
Cross-Functional Support
· Liaise with Design, Merchandising, Quality Assurance, Sales, and other teams as required.
· Help prepare documents, presentations, and product reports when needed.
· Support with trade shows and events: planning, setting up, breaking down. This will require an overnight stay 3-4 times per year.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
· Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
· Must be able to drive
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Competent in Excel, Word, and general computer systems.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable (not essential):
· Experience working with Far East factories (China or India).
· Background in product development, sourcing, or home décor.
· Familiarity with product specification sheets or costings.
