Professional Dog Walker - Gizmo’s & Gadget’s K9 Services (G&G’s)

Gizmo’s & Gadget’s K9 Services are looking for a confident, reliable and proactive new team member to join our growing dog walking team based in Consett, County Durham

This is a self-employed, part-time role to begin with, however there is strong potential for ongoing permanent work and increased hours for the right person as the business continues to grow.

We are a busy, fast-paced and highly client-focused business, so we are looking for somebody who is genuinely confident working independently, communicating with clients, managing groups of dogs, and becoming part of a close-knit professional team.

This role is much more than simply “walking dogs” - a large part of the day involves driving company vans, collecting and dropping off dogs, communicating with clients, taking high quality photos/videos for updates and social media, and maintaining high standards across all areas of the business.

What the role involves:

Collecting and dropping off dogs safely in company vans
Driving throughout the day between client homes and our secure walking field
Handling and managing groups of dogs of all sizes, breeds and personalities
Working outdoors in all weather conditions
Taking high quality photos/videos for client updates and social media content
Confidently using apps, phones and social media platforms including TikTok and Instagram
Cleaning and maintaining vans/equipment to a high standard
Working closely with a small team whilst also being confident working independently

Availability requirements:

Applicants MUST be available weekdays between approximately 7:30am–5pm
A minimum of 4 weekdays availability is required, ideally 5
Rotas change weekly depending on bookings, holidays and business demand
Some weeks may be quieter than others, whilst some may involve more regular work
No weekend work required

What we are looking for:

MUST HAVE a full UK driving licence
Over 23 years old for insurance purposes
Own vehicle required to travel to/from our base in Consett
Confidence driving larger vehicles/vans is essential
Reliable, punctual and highly organised
Strong communication and client-facing skills
Proactive and able to use initiative
Confident around large groups of dogs
Physically fit and comfortable working in all weather conditions
Good with technology and social media
Experience is preferred but not essential - full training will be provided for the right person

Successful applicants will complete trial/shadow shifts as part of the hiring process.

Well-socialised staff dogs will be able to accompany staff members daily when working. Discounted walks/boarding may be available for staff, friends and family dogs where suitable

Pay: Starting from £13.00 per hour, with opportunity for eventual increase for the right person.
