Job summary
We are looking to expand our dynamic and compassionate Hampshire CAMHS Eating Disorder Team and are seeking an experienced and motivated Mental Health Nurse to join us in a specialist Duty and Assessment role. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team as the first point of contact, triaging new referrals and providing consultations, initial assessments, risk management and support to children and young people experiencing eating disorders and associated mental health difficulties.
The role offers flexibly, and the successful candidate can be predominately home based for duty elements or can use one of EDT bases; flexible working arrangements can be considered. All assessments however are face to face so the clinician will be expected to carry these out in one of our three locations in Hampshire. We also meet monthly as a team, and this meeting is held in Winchester. As the post is currently focused on duty and assessment work, there will be no case holding responsibilities.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
A central aspect of the role involves triaging new referrals into the service, gathering information from referrers, families and partner agencies to support clinical decision making around whether a young person requires a specialist eating disorder assessment and the urgency of the response required. The post holder will also provide consultation, advice and support to the wider professional network with support from the multidisciplinary team.
The role includes undertaking specialist CAMHS eating disorder and mental health assessments, assessing and managing risk, and collaboratively developing care and safety plans in line with Trust standards. You will provide specialist advice, psychoeducation and support to families and professionals, alongside assessing the physical health risks associated with eating disorders. Strong clinical decision making skills are essential, including confidence in assessing levels of risk, determining appropriate responses and signposting to other services where needed.
You will work within a skilled multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, dietitians and occupational therapists, contributing to evidence-based, recovery-focused care. We are looking for someone compassionate, resilient and adaptable, who can build strong therapeutic relationships and work collaboratively within a busy and supportive team environment.
