Contract Type: Permanent

Location: To be based at one of our main hubs (Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow or Cardiff)

Type of Working Arrangement: Blended approach of home and office-working is available

Hours: This is full-time role (37 hours per week)

The Opportunity:

British Transport Police (BTP) have an opportunity for a HaRT Data and Compliance Administrator to join the Harm Reduction Team (HaRT) (tracks.oak.com). As a HaRT Data and Compliance Administrator with BTP, you will play a crucial role in supporting public protection by managing and maintaining Harm Reduction Team (HaRT) databases, safeguarding records and crisis intervention data.

You will ensure the accuracy, integrity and compliance of information to support effective early intervention and harm reduction decision‑making. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you will support real‑time monitoring of individuals at risk and enable appropriate, lawful information sharing. The role also contributes to team resilience through ownership of key workstreams, supporting safeguarding processes and enabling effective multi‑agency collaboration.

What you'll be doing:

Managing and maintaining HaRT databases and records, ensuring highly sensitive information is handled accurately, securely and in line with data protection requirements.
Ensuring data quality and compliance, inputting and quality‑assuring information across systems such as Niche and ControlWorks, correcting inaccuracies and bridging data gaps.
Producing timely reports and information, compiling dashboards, reports and proformas to support senior leadership, partners and operational decision‑making.
Supporting effective communication and collaboration, monitoring shared mailboxes, maintaining distribution lists, liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders, and providing additional data and research support to enhance team resilience.

What you'll bring to the team:

Qualifications & Training

Experience using Microsoft Excel or a similar database system, demonstrated through work or study.

Experience

Experience in research or data administration, gained through work or education.
Practical experience using Excel to input, organise and manage data.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, liaising effectively with internal and external contacts.

Skills

Strong organisational, administrative and data‑management skills, with the ability to work accurately and methodically under pressure.
Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build effective working relationships.
High level of attention to detail, maintaining accuracy in routine and repetitive tasks.

Knowledge

Understanding of Data Protection principles and legislation.
Awareness of Freedom of Information principles.

Additional Information:

A flexible approach to working hours is required to meet the demands of the Unit. The post holder may be required to attend courses/ team development days (residential/non-residential), which the Force identifies as being necessary.
