Head Fryer

At Papas Fish & Chips, we're passionate about serving Britain's Best Fish & Chips. With a strong focus on quality, consistency and exceptional guest experiences, we're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Head Fryer to join our team.

Whether you're an experienced fryer looking for your next challenge or someone with a strong hospitality background and a desire to learn, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

As Head Fryer, you'll be responsible for delivering exceptional food quality with every meal served. You'll take ownership of the kitchen, ensuring our award-winning fish and chips are cooked to perfection and that every guest receives the high standards they expect from Papas.

Working closely with the management team, you'll play a key role in maintaining food quality, controlling wastage, training team members and ensuring all food safety standards are met.

From inspecting deliveries and monitoring product quality through to leading service during busy periods, you'll be trusted to uphold the standards that have made Papas one of the UK's most recognised fish and chip brands.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook fish, chips and other menu items to company specifications.
Ensure exceptional product quality, consistency and presentation at all times.
Take ownership of the frying operation during service.
Inspect and check deliveries to ensure products meet company standards.
Monitor oil quality and follow filtration procedures.
Support stock control and minimise wastage.
Train, coach and support Assistant Fryers and Kitchen Team Members.
Maintain the highest standards of food hygiene, allergen awareness and health & safety.
Work closely with management to continuously improve kitchen performance and guest satisfaction.
Lead by example and contribute to a positive team culture.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a high-performing team.

You'll ideally have:

Previous experience within a fish and chip shop, quick-service restaurant or kitchen environment.
A passion for food quality and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
The ability to remain calm and organised during busy service periods.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
A commitment to cleanliness, food safety and operational excellence.

Experience as a fryer is advantageous, but attitude, work ethic and a willingness to develop are equally important. Full training will be provided for the right candidate.
