Job title: 3D Designer
Function: Translate ideas, sketches, and written client briefs into 3D designs
Location: Macclesfield, Cheshire
Responsible to: Head of Creative
1. Scope of the Job
i) Job Objective/Purpose:
On an Agile basis using the client’s brand, target audience, market position and key messaging, produce innovative 3D Exhibition Stand visuals that give the Wow-Factor and align with client goals. Prepare CAD working drawings to accurately instruct production colleagues and external contractors. Management of client artwork and designs when required. Communicate and collaborate in a cross-functional environment, with internal Account and Project Managers, Production Teams, Customers, and their Agencies
2. Skills and Qualifications
i) Skills required:
· Proficiency in CAD Software (ideally SolidWorks and Cinema4D)
· Experience ideally in the design of Exhibition Stands or similar, e.g. retail display
· Apple Mac/PC software skills to include InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator would be beneficial
· A curious, creative and enthusiastic nature
· The ability to respond quickly to customer feedback and work on multiple opportunities on an Agile basis
· Be well presented, an articulate communicator, and able to confidently talk customers through your designs and creative choices
· Have a thirst for new technologies and a willingness to try new ways of creating and enhancing your designs through 3D Animation and AI
ii) Qualifications required
· A 3D design qualification to degree level, or equivalent experience, is essential. A good all-round GCSE education
· Minimum three years’ work experience in 3D design, preferably within the event/exhibition industry
· An understanding of 2D graphic design would be an advantage.
3. Key Responsibilities
i) Design
· Translate ideas, sketches, and written client briefs into exciting and innovative 3D designs
· Identify the client’s brand, target audience, key messaging, and market position to ensure concepts align with their goals
· Attend client meetings to aid in the successful capture of a project brief alongside the sales team
· Present concepts, mood boards, floor plans, and renderings using creative storytelling to explain design intent
· Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, competitors, materials etc.
· Present a strong portfolio demonstrating visualisation ability
· An understanding of design intent, technical build capabilities, and the impact of H&S regulations and on-site considerations on project outcomes
· Ability to work under pressure and independently
· Exceptional eye for detail
· Commercial awareness to work within client budgets, guided by the sales team
· Good communicator, strong ability to listen, reflect, and act on briefs and feedback
· Knowledge and ability to use the Adobe suite
· Excellent organisational skills – ability to manage multiple projects and ensure time is utilised efficiently
· Comfortable working in a collaborative environment with input from multiple stakeholders, working towards a unified goal
ii) Other Duties
· Occasional off-site installation of stands and graphics at exhibitions/events to gain creative inspiration and technical build knowledge
· Attending client meetings, presenting and giving input and guidance on creative ideas
· Contribution to the research and development of new ideas for efficiency and development
· Ordering of design materials
· Other relevant duties as directed by the Head of Creative
