Job Overview
Join our dynamic team to deliver exceptional patient care under orthodontist prescription in a fast-paced private setting. Utilise Dentally software for efficient operations, collaborate with orthodontists for comprehensive treatment plans, and uphold CQC-compliant infection control and documentation. This role emphasises clinical precision, patient comfort, and team support in our modern facility, working 2 days per week: one fixed Saturday and one other flexible weekday.
Duties
- Assist orthodontists with examinations, orthodontic adjustments, and appliance placements (e.g., brackets, archwires, retainers).
- Prepare patients by reviewing histories, explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and obtaining valid consent.
- Undertake assessments: impressions, radiographs (for tracing), IOTN screening, intra/extra-oral photos, and progress monitoring.
- Perform permitted procedures: clean/prep teeth, fit separators/headgear/bonded retainers, remove fixed appliances/adhesives, apply fluoride varnish.
- Manage records accurately in Dentally, provide oral hygiene/appliance education, handle anxiety/emergencies (make safe), and repair acrylic appliances.
- Support sterilisation, aseptic techniques, and clinic efficiency per GDC/BOS guidelines.
Requirements
- Full GDC registration as Orthodontic Therapist with indemnity and minimum 2 years proven UK post-qualification experience (orthodontics preferred).
- Strong knowledge of GDC scope, dental terminology, infection control, and patient management; Dentally familiarity essential.
- Excellent communication, attention to detail, compassionate chairside manner; team player for Saturday + flexible weekday schedule.
- Bonus: pediatric experience, digital tools proficiency; no general dentistry/endodontics/root canals required—focus on ortho scope only. UK GDPR/CQC compliance applies.
