Full job description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced PSV Mechanic to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, specialising in PSV (Public Service Vehicles). The ideal applicant will possess comprehensive knowledge of fabrication, welding, electrical schematics, and equipment repair, with a focus on delivering high-quality service to our clients.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on PSV vehicles, including buses and coaches, to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using schematics and diagnostic tools.
Perform fabrication tasks such as welding and soldering to repair or modify vehicle components.
Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to carry out repairs efficiently.
Assemble new components or parts as required for vehicle upgrades or repairs.
Assist with heavy lifting tasks using appropriate lifting equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
Maintain detailed records of all work carried out for compliance and future reference.
Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance schedules.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a PSV Mechanic or similar role within the heavy vehicle maintenance industry.
Strong mechanical knowledge with expertise in fabrication, welding, soldering, and electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret schematics accurately.
Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Knowledge of vehicle assembly, equipment repair, maintenance procedures, and safety standards.
Physical capability for heavy lifting and working in physically demanding environments.
Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a customer-focused approach.
Relevant qualifications or certifications in mechanical or electrical trades are preferred but not essential.

Pay: Up to £20.25 per hour
