The West Hants Club is a thriving members' club with a strong focus on delivering excellent service, supporting our people, and fostering a positive working environment. We are seeking an experienced HR professional to provide expert guidance and leadership across all aspects of human resources.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR practitioner looking for a flexible, part-time role where they can make a real impact. Working closely with the CEO and management team, you will be the Club's primary HR contact, supporting managers, enhancing employee experience, and ensuring compliance with employment legislation and best practice.
The Role
As Senior HR Advisor, you will provide practical and professional HR support across the employee lifecycle, helping to develop effective people practices and ensuring that managers have the guidance and support they need to manage their teams confidently and consistently.
This is a standalone HR role requiring a proactive individual who is comfortable working independently and able to build strong relationships across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment and Talent Acquisition
- Support managers with recruitment planning and workforce needs.
- Draft and advertise vacancies across appropriate platforms.
- Manage recruitment and assist with candidate selection where required.
- Advise on competitive recruitment packages and best-practice hiring processes.
Onboarding and Employee Induction
- Coordinate the onboarding process for new employees, including references, right-to-work checks, and all pre-employment documentation.
- Prepare employment contracts, offer letters, and job descriptions.
- Deliver and support employee induction programmes.
- Provide guidance to managers to ensure a consistent onboarding experience.
HR Administration and Systems
- Maintain and oversee the Club's HR system, ensuring employee records remain accurate and up to date.
- Monitor and manage HR data including holiday entitlement, absence records, and probation reviews.
- Produce reports and HR information when required.
Employee Relations and HR Advice
- Act as the main HR contact for managers and employees.
- Provide guidance on a range of employee relations matters including absence management, disciplinary issues, grievances, performance management, and probationary reviews.
- Support managers in applying policies fairly, consistently, and in line with employment legislation.
Compliance, Policies and Employment Law
- Keep HR policies, procedures, and the Employee Handbook up to date.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Advise senior management on relevant legislative developments and their impact on the business.
Employee Benefits and Engagement
- Manage and administer employee benefits.
- Work with the leadership team to review and enhance benefit offerings where appropriate.
- Ensure employees understand and can access the benefits available to them.
- Support employee engagement and recognition initiatives that reinforce the Club's values and culture.
Training & Development
- Support and coach managers to deliver effective and consistent performance reviews, ensuring employee objectives, development plans, and performance discussions are completed and recorded appropriately.
- Provide guidance to managers on performance management, employee development, and people management best practice.
- Identify training and development needs across the organisation and work with managers to support employee growth and succession planning.
- Manage the Club's training budget, ensuring training initiatives are cost-effective, aligned with business objectives, and deliver value to the organisation.
About You
We are looking for a confident and experienced HR professional who enjoys working collaboratively while being capable of operating independently.
You will ideally have:
- CIPD Chartered Membership (MCIPD) or working towards Chartered status desirable.
- Significant experience in a senior HR advisory, HR manager, or standalone HR role.
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience supporting managers with employee relations matters.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive working relationships at all levels.
- A proactive and solution-focused approach.
