To lead and coordinate the domestic services function across YMCA St Helens, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety. The post holder will supervise domestic staff, maintain quality assurance, and support the delivery of a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Leading the Domestic Service
· Provide day-to-day supervision, support, and guidance to domestic staff.
· Allocate and coordinate workloads, ensuring adequate cover during sickness, leave, and peak periods.
· Promote a positive team culture focused on high standards and continuous improvement.
· Carry out regular supervisions, appraisals, and performance reviews.
Maintaining Cleaning Standards
· Ensure all areas of the organisation are cleaned to a consistently high standard.
· Conduct routine quality checks and inspections of work completed.
· Demonstrate expected cleaning standards and support staff in delivering these.
· Undertake cleaning duties as required to maintain service delivery.
Health, Safety & Compliance
· Ensure staff comply with all health and safety policies, including COSHH and PPE requirements.
· Carry out regular health and safety checks and risk assessments.
· Identify, report, and respond to hazards, incidents, and risks.
· Review and update cleaning procedures and risk assessments where necessary.
Operational Management
· Monitor and maintain stock levels of cleaning materials, consumables, and bedding.
· Order supplies and maintain accurate stock records.
· Oversee laundry processes, including washing, ironing, and distribution of bedding.
· Ensure availability of emergency and seasonal bedding provision.
Partnership Working
· Work collaboratively with maintenance, housing, and support teams.
· Report any concerns regarding property condition or residents to appropriate staff.
· Participate in meetings and contribute to service improvement.
· Ensure the team report when residents refuse to allow room cleaning to the Housing Support Team.
Record Keeping and Administration
· Maintain accurate records including timesheets, absence reporting, and incidents using the appropriate IT systems.
· Support payroll processes through ensuring accurate recording of clock ins and overtime claims.
· Contribute to reports and monitoring requirements as needed.
Health, Safety & Risk Management
· Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with YMCA St Helens policies.
· Ensure safe systems of work are followed at all times.
· Work in line with GDPR, confidentiality requirements, and organisational policies.
