Full job description

NLC7 £31,5841 - £34,307 (Pro-Rata) (plus appropriate payment for Non-core hours)

Based within 1 of our 5 Children’s Houses in North Lanarkshire, you will be part of the staff team responsible for providing care to our children and young people who are currently living in our children’s houses, consistent with National Standards, Council and Service policies. You will contribute to the care and nurture of children and young people through the provision of a safe, stable, and nurturing environment; developing trusting relationships and provide emotional support. These caring tasks will support children and young people develop confidence and resilience. You will collaborate with social workers, teachers, health professionals, and families and support transitions. You will help encouraging our children and young people to develop to their full potential.

In partnership with key colleagues/partners you will also contribute to assessment and care planning, participating in reviews and other meetings as required, you will prepare written reports and care plans and contribute to the implementation of care plans.

You must have an SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or HNC in Social Care or one of the qualifications included on the list for registration as a residential child care worker with SSSC. You should also have moderate experience of working in social care, either in a personal or voluntary capacity. You will be flexible, self motivated and enthusiastic with an ability to work to tight deadlines and a commitment to inspire children and young people to achieve the best outcomes. You will be required to work towards SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or HNC in Social Care, within timescales set by SSSC, should you not already have these qualifications. You should also have the ability to undertake a Physical Capacity test in line with Promoting Positive Behaviour Guidance.

You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member prior to commencing in this role and you will also be registered or eligible for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

For all casual/sessional roles, you will receive 12.1% of your hourly rate for every hour worked in total recompense for annual leave, including public holidays. These rates will be indicated separately on your payslip. You will only be paid for the hours that you work.
