We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sustainability Lead to drive our sustainability ambitions and help embed environmental responsibility across the organisation.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and delivery of National Star's Sustainability Strategy, ensuring sustainability is integrated into decision-making, operations, education and service delivery.
Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you will provide expert advice, influence positive change, drive carbon reduction initiatives and ensure compliance with environmental legislation while helping National Star progress towards becoming a more sustainable organisation.
As the organisation's sustainability specialist, you will work with senior leaders, managers, trustees and governors to develop and implement environmental initiatives that deliver measurable impact. You will lead on the creation and delivery of our Carbon Management Plan, monitor and report on energy use and carbon emissions, and identify opportunities to improve environmental performance across our sites.
The role will also focus on reducing waste, increasing recycling, promoting circular economy principles, supporting biodiversity projects and developing sustainable travel initiatives. You will work collaboratively with estates, procurement, learning and operational teams to ensure sustainability principles are embedded throughout the organisation.
An important aspect of the role will be engaging colleagues, students and residents in sustainability activities, promoting behaviour change and supporting National Star's Green Groups. You will also identify funding opportunities, develop business cases for sustainability projects and build partnerships with external organisations to support innovation and best practice.
About You
You will have experience of successfully delivering sustainability or environmental programmes and influencing change across a range of stakeholders.
You will be confident analysing and reporting data, managing projects and balancing multiple priorities. Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across teams are essential.
You will hold a degree, professional qualification or have equivalent experience in sustainability, environmental science or a related discipline.
You will also be willing and able to work flexibly across National Star sites.
In return, you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to National Star's future sustainability journey while supporting an organisation that is dedicated to transforming the lives of people with disabilities.
