At Bramacare, we're looking for a compassionate and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our specialist eating disorder rehabilitation service. About the Role
As the Occupational Therapist, you will assess, plan and deliver evidence-based occupational therapy interventions that support recovery from eating disorders.
Working closely with residents, families and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will help individuals develop the skills, confidence and independence needed to return to education, employment, hobbies, relationships and community living.
You will lead therapeutic groups, complete functional assessments, develop individual rehabilitation programmes and support residents to achieve their personal recovery goals.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Practice
- Complete comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments.
- Develop and review individual occupational therapy treatment plans.
- Assess activities of daily living, functional ability and independent living skills.
- Identify barriers to recovery and develop strategies to overcome them.
- Support residents to establish healthy routines and meaningful daily structure.
- Complete environmental and community risk assessments where required.
- Promote independence while ensuring care remains safe and person centred.
Rehabilitation
- Deliver individual Occupational Therapy interventions.
- Plan and facilitate therapeutic programmes.
- Support residents to return to education, volunteering or employment where appropriate.
- Develop life skills programmes including budgeting, cooking, shopping, travel training and self-care.
- Support graded community exposure and rehabilitation.
- Encourage participation in meaningful occupations that promote identity beyond the eating disorder.
Multidisciplinary Working
- Work collaboratively with Nurses, Dietitians, Psychologists, Support Workers, Social Workers and Psychiatrists.
- Attend MDT meetings, CPA reviews and care planning meetings.
- Contribute to discharge planning and community transitions.
- Provide specialist occupational therapy advice to the wider team.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain HCPC registration and professional standards.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
- Participate in clinical audit and service development.
- Provide supervision and support to Occupational Therapy students where appropriate.
- Maintain Continuing Professional Development.
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC Registration.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build therapeutic relationships.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Passion for rehabilitation and person-centred care.
Desirable
- Experience working within mental health or eating disorder services.
- Experience within rehabilitation settings.
- Knowledge of sensory approaches and trauma-informed practice.
- Experience facilitating therapeutic groups.
- Understanding of occupational science and recovery-focused practice.
- Experience completing functional and cognitive assessments.
