About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Geologist with a strong background in hard rock metals production to lead grade control and resource management activities at our mining operation. This role is critical to ensuring accurate ore delineation, optimizing resource extraction, and supporting operational decision-making.
The successful candidate will bring at least 10 years of international experience and a proven ability to manage grade control programmes, mentor junior geologists, and maintain high-quality geological models in an active production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the grade control function to ensure accurate ore/waste delineation and optimal recovery
- Design, implement, and continuously improve grade control programmes aligned with production targets
- Develop, maintain, and validate block models and resource estimations
- Oversee geological data collection, QA/QC protocols, and database integrity
- Collaborate closely with mining, processing, and planning teams to support short- and medium-term mine planning
- Provide technical guidance on orebody interpretation and reconciliation processes
- Monitor and report on production performance against geological models and forecasts
- Mentor, coach, and supervise junior geologists to build team capability
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, reporting codes, and company policies
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in hard rock metals mining, with significant time in production environments
- Demonstrated expertise in grade control management and resource modelling
- Strong experience with block modelling software (e.g., Deswik, Datamine, Leapfrog, or similar)
- Proven track record in delivering grade control programmes in operating mines
- Experience working in international hard rock open cut mining operations
- Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures and geological data management
Leadership & Technical Skills
- Ability to lead field-based geological teams in a dynamic production setting
- Strong mentoring and coaching capability for developing junior staff
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
Desirable Attributes
- Experience across multiple commodities (e.g., gold, copper, base metals)
- Familiarity with JORC, NI 43-101, or other international reporting standards
- Experience with reconciliation and resource-to-reserve conversion processes
