Overview
We are looking for a proactive and well‑organised Quality & Document Control Technician to join our team at Alba Gaskets. This role supports both quality activities and document control within an oil and gas manufacturing environment, helping ensure project and quality documentation is accurate, up to date, and easy to access. The role also includes limited hands‑on quality support on the shop floor, contributing to effective inspection processes and reliable quality records.
This is a varied, hands‑on role that would suit someone who enjoys working with documentation, supporting quality processes, and collaborating with different teams across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, compile, and maintain controlled quality and project documentation including Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Manufacturing Record Books (MRBs), and project‑specific document packs.
- Organise and control documents to ensure correct versioning, approval, issue, and retrieval in line with company procedures.
- Support document lifecycle activities, including updates driven by engineering changes or customer requirements.
- Maintain quality records such as inspection reports, material certificates, work order documentation, and quality logs.
- Provide hands‑on support to quality inspections as required, assisting with visual checks, basic dimensional verification, and completion of inspection records.
- Work closely with Quality, Production, Engineering, and Commercial teams to gather, review, and complete project documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of documentation for customer handover and internal or external audits.
- Help identify practical improvements in documentation flow and structure to make information clearer and easier to use.
- Ensure customer and company documents are handled securely and confidentially.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in document control, quality administration, or a similar role within manufacturing or engineering.
- Comfortable working with structured documentation such as ITPs, MRBs, or project quality records (full training can be provided).
- Good attention to detail with an organised and methodical approach.
- Awareness of quality management systems such as ISO 9001 (API Q1 knowledge is an advantage but not essential).
- Competent user of Microsoft Office and shared document systems.
- A positive communicator who enjoys working with others and supporting wider team activities.
- Able to work independently while contributing as part of a collaborative quality team.
Development & Progression
This role offers a strong foundation within Quality and Document Control, with opportunities to develop skills across inspection support, quality systems, auditing, and project documentation. With experience, training, and demonstrated capability, there is potential to progress into senior document control, quality technician, or wider QA/QC roles within the business.
