About the Role: -
L&N Scotland Ltd is seeking a motivated Graduate Welding Engineer to join our Engineering team. As an ISO 3834-2 certified organisation, we specialise in delivering high-quality welding and fabrication solutions. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to develop practical and theoretical expertise in welding engineering, working under the guidance of experienced personnel.
The position is designed as a structured development pathway toward Welding Engineer and Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) roles.
This role is designed as a development opportunity, providing hands-on experience across fabrication and site operations, alongside structured learning. The company will support your professional growth through the funding of relevant qualifications and training.
Key Responsibilities: -
- Support the development and maintenance of:
o Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
o Procedure Qualification Records (PQR/WPQR)
o Welder Approvals
- Assist in maintaining compliance with ISO 3834 welding quality requirements
- Support welding documentation control (weld maps, logs, traceability records)
- Provide technical support to fabrication and welding operations
- Assist in investigation of welding defects and non-conformances
- Contribute to quality control, inspection activities, and audits
- Work closely with engineering, production, quality teams and clients.
Development & Training: -
This role is structured to support long-term career progression in welding engineering:
- Mentoring from experienced Welding Engineers and RWC personnel
- Exposure to ISO 3834 and ISO 14731 welding coordination activities
- Supported progression through the EWF/IIW Welding Diploma pathway to IWE
- Practical experience across welding, materials, and quality disciplines
Requirements: -
Essential: -
- Degree in suitable engineering discipline, such as:
o Mechanical Engineering
o Materials / Metallurgy
o Manufacturing Engineering
- Strong interest in welding, fabrication, or materials engineering
- Good understanding of engineering fundamentals
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret technical standards and specifications
Desirable: -
- Exposure to welding processes or fabrication
- Awareness of quality standards (e.g. ISO 3834)
- Industrial placement or relevant experience
