PURPOSE OF THE POST:
To be available within the SARC hub on an on-call basis to provide support to individuals who have been victims of rape and sexual assault.
To help reduce the impact of sexual violence for individuals, and their families, through early intervention and ongoing support.
GENERAL
- The post holder will embody New Pathways’ ethos and values and will model appropriate behaviours at all times and in all areas of responsibility.
- Commit to a continuous improvement culture and be prepared to undertake other duties and responsibilities relevant to the nature, level and extent of the post.
MAIN TASKS AND DUTIES:
· To provide trauma and crisis support to clients accessing the facility for the following: forensic medical examinations, video recorded police interviews, written statements, memory refresh for trial, intermediary assessments or familiarisation visits.
· To follow all guidelines and procedures of SARC for forensic integrity and comply with the ISO15189 quality management system.
· To ensure strategy discussions take place prior to forensic examinations with Police, Sexual Offences Examiner, Paediatrician and any other relevant agencies to ensure the best care and outcome for the client.
· To complete forensic cleaning of the suite and maintain a high level of cleanliness throughout the process in accordance with the ISO Forensic Standards. Ensuring the relevant rooms are fully secure with tamper proof seals once cleaning is completed.
· To ensure regular checking of equipment and reporting any faults to the line manager.
· To travel to other SARCs or police stations to support clients where needed.
· To work within a multi-disciplinary team, for example liaising with local SARC hubs, police, and other professionals regarding the SARC hub processes.
· To provide confidential advocacy support for all clients accessing the SARC service in line with national guidelines, best practice, and contractual obligations. Maintain confidentiality, adhering to data protection.
· Identify and respond, as appropriate, to issues relating to safeguarding, child protection and adults at risk. This includes speaking with the client about when referrals will need to be made to protect them or others.
· To provide information to clients about accessing any emergency care needed. Gaining consent from the client for these types of referrals or contacts to be made on their behalf. This can include fast track referrals to sexual health services, mental health services, hospitals and emergency accommodation.
· Ensure all actions taken are consistent with the client’s wishes, dignity, and beliefs.
· Produce clear and accurate records for each client and ensure its secure storage.
· Plan and prepare for regular team meetings, and supervision.
· Ensure an effective system of communication exists between New Pathways’ management, clients, staff, volunteers, and other agencies.
· Offer a welcoming and non-judgemental environment to all service users and participate in office upkeep/safety related tasks.
· Undertake any relevant training as required by New Pathways.
· Undertake any other duties the manager may request, as required.
· Participate in the on-call rota and submit availability for the following month.
· Conduct freezer temperature checks and log these correctly.
· Complete witnessed activities to ensure training matrix is up to date and accurate.
Zero-hours contract - On call basis. Out of hours shift including weekends.
