Job Introduction

Catering Assistant

Location: Ysgol Gyfun Gymunedol Penweddig, Llanbadarn Rd, Aberystwyth SY23 3QN
Pay: £12.71 per hour
Hours: 15 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, 11.00am - 2:00pm (must be flexible)
Contract: Term Time Only – 39 weeks, Permanent, Part Time

About the Role

As a Catering Assistant, you’ll support the day-to-day running of a busy food service operation. From preparing and serving food to keeping the kitchen and dining areas clean and organised, you’ll help ensure everything runs smoothly.

You’ll work as part of a supportive team delivering great service while maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.

What You’ll Do

Assist with the preparation and serving of food and beverages
Maintain clean, safe and hygienic kitchen and dining areas
Replenish food displays and service counters as required
Support deliveries and store supplies appropriately
Follow food hygiene, health and safety procedures
Provide a friendly and helpful service to customers, colleagues or visitors

A positive and reliable attitude
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Good organisation and attention to detail
Ability to work in a busy environment and prioritise tasks
Previous catering or food service experience is helpful but not essential, as full training will be provided

Additional Information

Term Time Only – Equated Pay
This role works 39 weeks per year. Your salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments across 12 months, meaning you receive consistent pay throughout the year, including during school closure periods.
