The Institute of Art and Technology (IAT) is a world-leading centre of excellent at the intersection of digital technology, art and design, drawing upon its 200 years history of pioneering arts research, innovation and real-world impact.
Operating within the Liverpool John Moores University’s Strategy 2030 and Research and Knowledge Exchange Plan 2030, IAT is currently enhancing its core strands of research activities, delivery and impact, including REF 2029 through its two Units of Assessment - UoA32 and UoA34. Since REF 2021, The Institute of Art and Technology (IAT) has affirmed its position as a world-leading research institute with enhanced research outputs portfolio, Impact, and SPRE (Strategy, People, Research Environment).
We are looking for an exceptional Postdoctoral Researcher with interest in developing research leadership in the context of IAT and its core strands of activities, including REF 2029, and proven experience of managing, evaluation and auditing research, informed by subject specific expertise within Creative Arts disciplines and international quality published research.
The post is designed to develop Research Leadership strategies and to shape, inform and enhance the delivery, monitoring, communication, data collection, evaluation and reporting of IAT core strands of business, working with Head of IAT, UoA Leads, and IAT leadership team.
The role emphasises advisory leadership, standard setting, analysis of data in research contexts, recommending methodologies, and assuring rigour and coherence across core stands of IAT portfolio, external communication and web‑facing content, to inform institutional biennial evaluation report 2027 and REF2029 delivery.
You will provide a dedicated support for Unit of Assessment 32 (Art and Design: History, Practice and Theory) and Unit of Assessment 34 (Communication, Cultural and Media Studies, Library and Information Management) in delivery of REF2029. You will exercise independent judgement and apply specialist methodological knowledge to design and critically appraise environment narratives, impact evidence strategies and audit trails.
You will also work to enhance access to and participation in IAT research activities whilst encouraging collaboration and open research practices, through the organisation of IAT leadership skills events across all career stages.
You will work to enhance research integrity through supporting IAT Early Career Researchers and Postgraduate Researchers.
