Salary: £31,308 – £34,188 per annum (including sleep‑in payments)
Contract: Full‑time / Permanent
£60.00 per sleep-in

About the Role

As a Residential Children’s Support Worker, you will be part of a team that provides day‑to‑day care, guidance, and stability for children and young people. Your role will be central to creating an environment where children feel safe enough to express themselves, learn, and gradually build trust.

This is a hands‑on, emotionally demanding role. You will work closely with young people through both positive and challenging moments, offering consistency, encouragement, and clear boundaries. You will never be expected to “fix” children—but you will be expected to care with patience, professionalism, and respect.

Key Responsibilities

Build safe, trusting, and appropriate relationships with children and young people
Support daily routines, education, leisure activities, and life skills
Respond calmly and proportionately to challenging behaviour
Work in line with care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures
Maintain accurate and timely recording of daily events
Participate in team meetings, supervision, and reflective practice
Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistency of care
Promote a positive, stable, and respectful living environment

About You

This role may be right for you if you:

Are patient, calm, and able to remain steady under pressure
Understand the importance of boundaries and consistency
Are willing to learn, reflect, and accept guidance
Can work as part of a team and value support from others
Are motivated by helping children feel safe, rather than seeking quick results

Experience in care is valued, but equally important is your attitude, values, and willingness to grow.

This Role May Not Be Suitable If You:

Are seeking a predictable 9–5 role
Find challenging behaviour overwhelming or take it personally
Prefer working without supervision or structure
Are uncomfortable following policies, routines, and safeguarding expectations

Being honest about the demands of the role helps everyone make the right decision.

Qualifications & Requirements

A willingness to work towards relevant qualifications (if not already held)
Flexibility to work a rota, including evenings, weekends, and sleep‑ins
A commitment to safeguarding and professional practice
