The Security Support Officer plays a pivotal role in strengthening the Trust’s security operations by providing flexible, proactive, and highly organised support to the Security Manager. The post holder oversees day‑to‑day security incident management, CCTV operations, alarm systems, access control, lone‑worker safety, and compliance activities across the Trust. They act as a key contact for staff affected by security‑related incidents, ensuring timely follow‑up, accurate documentation, and sensitive handling of confidential information.
The role includes monitoring and reviewing security incidents, managing digital evidence, maintaining sanctions and access records, supporting governance reporting, and ensuring operational readiness of critical security systems. The post holder also contributes to major security programmes such as Body Worn Video, Protect Duty (Martyn’s Law) preparations, and the Soft Services Security Contract.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential. The role requires professionalism, discretion, and confidence in handling sensitive information, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office and secure digital systems. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet service needs.

This role is central to ensuring timely incident review, accurate reporting, effective coordination of security systems, and compliance with national security standards.
You will work closely with Security Officers, clinical teams, Police contacts, and external suppliers to help maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Act as a flexible resource to support the Security Manager in any aspect of Security related matters.
Monitor all Trust and Company security incidents, ensuring initial review and staff contact within 48 hours.
Follow up with staff affected by physical assault, racial abuse, sexual abuse, threats, or verbal aggression.
Maintain monthly sanctions spreadsheets and the Trust’s Sanctions Register.
Ensure alerts are placed on Lorenzo, EMIS, and future EPR systems.
Support data extraction, trend analysis, and reporting for governance groups.
Review and retrieve CCTV footage for all reported incidents.
Prepare and upload CCTV evidence for Police investigations, ensuring chain of custody compliance.
Monitor CCTV system performance, camera functionality, and coverage gaps.
Track contracted maintenance visits and escalate missed or overdue work.
Assist with risk assessments for new camera locations.
Maintain oversight of intruder alarm maintenance programmes.
Develop and maintain a centralised alarm code register.
Create and manage a digital access code records system.
Support review of alarm activations and system performance.
Administer lone worker devices, including onboarding, allocation, and incident reporting.
Maintain accurate usage and compliance records.
Liaise with the device provider to resolve faults and replacements.
Support compliance with the national VPRS framework.
Assist with evidence gathering, audits, documentation updates, and action tracking.
Support delivery of the monthly Trust wide induction, presenting the security section via Microsoft Teams.
Maintain and update staff induction materials.
Upload monthly CCTV access control images for quarterly CWPS audits.
Maintain secure records of mortuary access permissions and audit trails.
Assist the Security Manager in the monitoring of the new Soft Services Contract for Security
Support the Security Manager in the trial and rollout of Body Worn Cameras for A&E staff.
Act as part of the Trust’s Data Controller function for Body Worn Video.
Manage footage requests, downloads, redactions, and disclosures.
Support the Security Manager in preparation for Martyn’s Law compliance.
Assist the Security Manager with Protect Duty risk assessments and evidence gathering.
Provide administrative support to the Security Manager, schedule meetings, appointments, calendars and take minutes and book rooms. The list of duties is not exhaustive, and the post holder may be required to undertake additional duties to meet the requirements of the service, including working some evening and weekend shifts.
