Job Title: Lifestyle and Leisure Supervisor
Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 per annum dependent on experience, plus opportunity for bonus payments for fitness class delivery (for qualified candidates)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 39 hours per week

This role is based on-site at Langdale Hotel and Spa, Ambleside, LA22 9JD.
Role Summary
Langdale Fitness and Leisure Club is seeking a motivated and hands-on Lifestyle and Leisure Supervisor to oversee gym, fitness classes, and membership operations. This role is perfect for someone with strong leadership skills, a passion for fitness, and experience in managing memberships and customer service. Working closely with the Club Assistant Manager, you’ll ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the dry side facilities, supporting our ambition to become a 5-star luxury leisure destination.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Supervision
Assist the Club Assistant Manager and take accountability for daily gym and studio operations.
Supervise activities across the gym floor, fitness classes, and leisure areas.
Lead and inspire the team to deliver outstanding service.
Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
Memberships & Customer Service
Support membership sales, onboarding, and retention initiatives.
Provide a welcoming environment for members and guests.
Handle queries and feedback with professionalism and care.
Deliver memorable service that exceeds expectations.
Fitness & Classes
Oversee the scheduling and delivery of fitness classes.
Coordinate with instructors to ensure high-quality programming.
Monitor gym usage and equipment standards.
Encourage member engagement through innovative fitness offerings.
Compliance & Risk Management
Assist with EAPs (Emergency Action Plans) and ensure staff are trained in emergency response.
Support NOPs (Normal Operating Procedures) for dry side operations.
Conduct and review risk assessments for gym, studio, and customer service areas.
Managerial Support
Assist with staff rotas, training, and operational planning.
Support stock control and ordering supplies.
Act as deputy in the manager’s absence, ensuring smooth operations.
Our Ideal Candidate
Holds a Level 3 Gym Instructor and/or Wellness qualifications (including but not limited to Yoga, Meditation, Sound Bowls, Auf Guss).
Has Pool Plant Operations experience and/or qualification (desirable).
Has Pool Responder/Lifeguard response experience and a strong understanding of pool safety procedures (desirable).
First Aid qualified or willing to obtain certification.
Experience in leisure club, fitness, or hospitality supervision.
Strong knowledge of gym operations and fitness class management.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Customer-focused mindset with a passion for service excellence.
