Purpose of the Role
As a Front of House / Kitchen Team Member, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of The Picnic Box. This is a varied, hands-on position requiring flexibility to work across both the kitchen and front of house, ensuring every customer receives outstanding food and service.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation
- Prepare high-quality, made-to-order sandwiches and other menu items to company standards.
- Assist with food preparation and daily kitchen duties.
- Ensure excellent food presentation and portion consistency.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene procedures.
Front of House
- Provide a warm, friendly and professional welcome to every customer.
- Take customer orders and operate the till accurately.
- Prepare coffees and hot drinks to a consistent standard.
- Maintain an excellent customer experience at all times.
Operations
- Assist with stock control and stock replenishment.
- Support product ordering where required.
- Help minimise food wastage.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the shop.
- Assist with opening and closing duties as required.
- Work efficiently and positively during busy service periods.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will:
- Have a genuine passion for food and hospitality.
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail.
- Have previous experience in hospitality or food service (essential).
- Be confident working across both kitchen and front of house.
- Be reliable with excellent timekeeping.
- Have a positive, proactive and flexible attitude.
- Work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Be willing to work weekends and bank holidays as part of the normal rota.
Hours
- 40 hours per week, worked over five days.
- Typical working hours are 8:00am – 4:30pm, with a 30-minute unpaid break each day.
- The role includes regular weekend and bank holiday working as part of the normal rota.
- Flexibility is required to support the needs of the business, including occasional additional hours where necessary.
