Cwmaman Town Council is looking for a reliable, hands-on person to help keep our Community Centre and Bunkhouse clean, welcoming and ready for use by the local community.
You'll clean and set up rooms ahead of bookings, welcome hirers and visitors when they arrive, and help make sure both buildings are in great shape for the groups, events and guests who use them.
This is a flexible, temporary part-time role for an initial 3-month period, ideal for someone local, well-organised and happy working on their own initiative. Some evening and weekend work will be needed around bookings.
Main duties include:
● Cleaning the Community Centre and Bunkhouse to a high standard
● Setting up and clearing rooms for bookings and events
● Meeting and greeting hirers and visitors, and acting as an on-site point of contact
Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential for this role.
Hours: 12 per week (flexible working pattern, to include some evenings/weekends)
Contract: Temporary, initial 3-month period, subject to operational need.
Salary: NJC Scale Point 5, £25,583.00 per annum (FTE) — pro rata for 12 hours per week: £8,297.19 per annum.

Job Description
Purpose of the role
To maintain the Community Centre and Bunkhouse to a high standard of cleanliness, to prepare and reset rooms for bookings and events, and to provide a friendly and reliable first point of contact for hirers and visitors.
Main duties and responsibilities
● Clean and maintain the Community Centre and Bunkhouse to a high standard, including floors, surfaces, kitchens, toilets/washrooms and communal areas
● Empty bins and manage waste and recycling in line with council procedures
● Monitor and restock consumables (toilet roll, hand soap, cleaning materials)
● Report any maintenance issues, damage, or health & safety concerns to the Town Clerk promptly
● Store and use cleaning products and equipment safely, in line with COSHH requirements
2. Room set-up for bookings
● Set out furniture and equipment to match each booking's requirements
● Prepare rooms in good time ahead of hirers' arrival
● Clear and reset rooms after use, ready for the next booking
● Liaise with the Town Clerk/office on the bookings schedule.
3. Meet and greet
● Welcome hirers, group leaders and visitors on arrival
● Give basic information on facilities (e.g. toilets, fire exits, kitchen equipment)
● Unlock and lock premises as required for bookings
● Act as an on-site point of contact for queries during bookings
4. General
● Follow the Council's Health & Safety Policy at all times
● Report accidents and incidents in line with council procedure
● Keep basic records, e.g. cleaning checklists and stock usage
● Attend training as required (e.g. manual handling, COSHH, fire safety)
● Carry out any other reasonable duties consistent with the role, as requested by the Town Clerk
Terms and conditions
● Temporary post for an initial 3-month period; 12 hours per week, working pattern agreed with the Town Clerk to fit around bookings
● Hours to be flexible to align with bookings.
● NJC Scale Point 5, £25,583.00 per annum (FTE), pro rata: £8,297.19 per annum for 12 hours per week — subject to the annual NJC pay award
● Annual leave per NJC terms, pro rata
● Appointment subject to satisfactory references and a Basic DBS check
● Continuation beyond the initial 3-month period subject to review and Council decision.
