We’re looking for a Senior Staff Nurse to join our Oncology Unit at The Christie Private Care, currently rated “Outstanding” by the CQC. HCA Healthcare UK has developed a dedicated private centre in partnership with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. The Christie Private Care treats patients with a full range of diagnostic, inpatient, surgical, day case and outpatient treatments all on one site.
As a Senior Staff Nurse, you will play a key leadership role within the Oncology team, ensuring the highest standards of patient-centred care are consistently delivered. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating specialist care, while acting as a role model and supporting the development of junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, evidence-based oncology nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatments
Act as a clinical leader and role model, supporting and mentoring junior nurses and healthcare assistants
Safely administer Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT), including chemotherapy and other anti-cancer therapies
Take responsibility for coordinating the patient journey, ensuring seamless care from admission through to discharge
Monitor and assess patient condition, responding proactively to clinical changes
Ensure safe handling and administration of cytotoxic drugs in line with policies and best practice
Lead by example in maintaining a safe, caring and compassionate environment for patients and their families
Support service improvements, audits and quality initiatives within the department
Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records and documentation
Collaborate effectively with the wider multidisciplinary team
What you’ll bring
NMC Registered Nurse
Significant post-registration experience within an oncology setting
Experience within NHS or private healthcare environments
Proven experience in administering Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT)
SACT accredited / chemotherapy giver (essential requirement)
Demonstrated leadership or senior nurse experience, including mentoring or supervising staff
Strong clinical knowledge of oncology and patient care pathways
