Duties
- Develop and input CNC programs using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software such as SolidWorks to create precise machining instructions.
- Set up CNC VMC machines by installing tooling, fixtures, and workpieces accurately according to specifications.
- Operate CNC vertical machining centers safely and efficiently, monitoring machine performance throughout the production cycle.
- Perform routine inspections of machined parts using hand tools and measurement devices to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Adjust machine parameters and tooling as needed to optimize cutting conditions for materials such as plastics or metals.
- Conduct grinding, milling, or welding tasks when required for component finishing or assembly processes.
- Maintain detailed records of machine setups, production runs, and quality checks for traceability and continuous improvement.
Skills
- Proficiency in programming CNC VMC machines with CAD/CAM software like SolidWorks or similar tools.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and tooling setups.
- Familiarity with machining processes including milling, grinding, welding, and plastics injection molding.
- Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints accurately for precise manufacturing.
- Basic math skills for measurements, tolerances, and calculations essential to machining tasks.
- Knowledge of assembly techniques related to machined components and plastics parts.
- Experience working with tooling selection, fixture setup, and troubleshooting machine issues effectively.
