Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Engineer to oversee the upkeep, development and presentation of our serviced apart-hotel and luxury apartments, while playing a key role in supporting and delivering upcoming projects. The successful candidate will have proven experience in managing maintenance operations, contractors, and preventative maintenance programmes. This role is vital in maintaining high standards of presentation, health and safety, and guest satisfaction, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for all visitors.

The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day maintenance operations, coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance, managing contractors and suppliers, and ensuring that all properties are maintained to the highest possible standard. They will also play a key role in identifying areas for improvement, responding efficiently to maintenance issues, and ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety requirements.

Duties:

Review and improve existing maintenance procedures, while implementing new processes where necessary, to ensure the department is equipped to support the company’s continued expansion.
Respond promptly to maintenance issues, prioritising requests and ensuring repairs are completed efficiently, safely and to a high standard.
Coordinate and carry out planned and preventative maintenance to minimise breakdowns and avoid unnecessary disruption to guests.
Coordinate with external contractors where specialist work is required, including obtaining well-researched quotes, arranging works and conducting contractor inductions.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance requests, works, inspections, repairs and ongoing projects.
Ensure all properties, equipment and facilities are maintained in line with company standards, identifying opportunities for improvements, upgrades and preventative measures.
Develop maintenance schedules to ensure essential works and servicing are completed within the required timeframes.
Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety, fire safety, and other statutory requirements, including conducting and coordinating necessary checks and inspections. Work closely with housekeeping and operations teams to coordinate maintenance works and minimise disruption to guests, while supporting the preparation and presentation of apartments to the required standard.
Respond to urgent maintenance issues when required, taking appropriate action to minimise disruption.
Manage multiple maintenance projects effectively, ensuring works are completed within agreed timescales and budgets.
Provide regular updates to management on outstanding maintenance issues, ongoing works, projects, expenditure and property improvements.

Requirements:

3+ years’ proven experience in hotel, serviced apartment, facilities, or similar maintenance.
Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a maintenance, facilities, hospitality or similar environment is highly desirable.
Practical maintenance experience.
Experience reviewing contractor quotations, obtaining competitive alternatives where appropriate, and preparing clear, sanitised cost comparisons with recommendations for management approval.
Commercial awareness, with the ability to assess value for money and support cost-effective maintenance decisions.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
Good knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
Ability to manage contractors, suppliers and external tradespeople professionally.
Ability to maintain accurate maintenance, contractor, compliance and asset records.
Understanding of guest-service standards and the importance of resolving maintenance issues promptly and discreetly.
A trade background would be ideal but not essential.
Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends, when required to meet operational needs.

Working hours:

8 hours including a 1-hour unpaid break per day
Weekend shifts may be required.Job Type:
