£25,350 per annum pro rata
Hours of Work
7.5 hours per week (1 day) and possible holiday cover. The day may be midweek or it may be a Saturday.

Operating across the Southern Health & Social Care Trust area, incredABLE delivers a wide range of programmes and services for children and adults with learning/intellectual disability and/or autism. We also run four successful social enterprise cafés, located at the ABC Leisure Centres in Banbridge and Craigavon, Newry Leisure Centre and at the Jethro Centre in Lurgan.

About the Role
We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Assistant Manager to join our new charity shop team.
The Assistant Manager will support the Shop Manager with the day-to-day running of the shop, helping to create a welcoming environment for customers, donors and volunteers. The successful applicant will play an important role in helping the shop achieve its fundraising targets while ensuring that the shop is well presented, efficiently operated and provides an excellent customer experience.
Although this is a one-day-per-week position, we are looking for someone who will take pride in the shop and become a valued member of our team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
· Assist the Shop Manager with the day-to-day operation of the charity shop.
· Open and/or close the shop as required.
· Provide a friendly, welcoming and professional service to customers.
· Support and supervise volunteers working in the shop.
· Assist with recruiting, welcoming and supporting volunteers where required.
· Sort, price, display and rotate donated goods appropriately.
· Ensure donated items are suitable for sale and meet the charity’s guidelines.
· Maintain attractive and well-stocked displays and shop windows.
· Operate the till and handle cash safely and in accordance with the charity’s procedures.
· Assist with banking and cash reconciliation as required.
· Encourage Gift Aid declarations from eligible donors and follow the charity’s Gift Aid procedures.
· Help achieve sales and fundraising targets.
· Monitor stock levels and ensure stock is regularly replenished.
· Keep the shop, stockroom and staff areas clean, tidy and organised.
· Assist with receiving and processing donations.
· Deal appropriately with customer enquiries, complaints and difficult situations, referring matters to the Shop Manager when necessary.
· Ensure the shop operates in accordance with the charity’s policies and procedures.
· Follow health and safety, safeguarding, fire safety and other relevant procedures.
· Report any concerns, incidents or maintenance issues to the Shop Manager.
· Promote the work and values of the charity to customers, donors and members of the public.
· Assist with promotional activities, fundraising events and campaigns.
· Work positively with staff, volunteers and other members of the charity’s team.
· Undertake any other reasonable duties associated with the role.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Criteria
Applicants must be able to demonstrate:
Experience
· 6 months experience of working in a retail/customer service to include dealing with members of the public and handling cash/operating a til.
· Experience of working as part of a team.
· Experience of working independently and using initiative.
Skills and Abilities
· Excellent customer service skills.
· Good communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work positively with volunteers and colleagues.
· Ability to organise tasks and manage time effectively.

Desirable Criteria
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
· Previous experience working in a charity shop.
· Previous supervisory or management experience.
· Experience of working with volunteers.
· Experience of Gift Aid procedures.
· Experience of retail merchandising and visual displays.
· Experience of cashing up and banking procedures.
· Knowledge of charity retail practices.
· Experience of using social media to promote products, events or fundraising activities.
· Knowledge of the work undertaken by the charity.
· Previous experience of working with a charity or voluntary organisation.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The post will involve:
· Working in a busy charity shop environment.
· Standing and walking for periods of the working day.
· Handling donated goods and moving stock.
· Occasional lifting and carrying of items within safe working limits.
· Working alongside volunteers of different ages and backgrounds.
· Working independently when the Shop Manager is not present, where required.
