Based in Farnborough, we are an ambitious and growing business with plans to relocate to a new, purpose-built workshop near Barkham, Finchampstead later this year. This is an exciting opportunity to join the company as we continue to invest in our facilities, processes and team.
We are looking for an experienced Spray Finisher to take ownership of the finishing department and play a vital role in delivering the exceptional quality our clients expect. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring every item leaves the workshop with a flawless finish, maintaining the high standards that define Ashcrest Joinery.

The Role
As our Spray Finisher, you will be responsible for producing exceptional finishes on bespoke, high-end joinery. This is a hands-on role where quality and attention to detail are paramount, ensuring every piece leaving our workshop meets the highest standards.
This is not a production-line spraying role. Every project is bespoke and requires craftsmanship, care and pride in your work. You will be expected to take ownership of the finishing process and play a key role in delivering the quality that Ashcrest Joinery is known for.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare bespoke joinery for finishing, including filling, sanding and masking to ensure surfaces are ready for paint or lacquer.
- Apply polyurethane paints, polyurethane lacquers and other finishing systems using spray equipment to achieve a flawless, consistent finish.
- Mix and match stains to achieve the required colour and finish, maintaining consistency across projects.
- Apply traditional finishing techniques where required, including oiling, waxing and other hand-applied finishes.
- Operate, clean and maintain spray equipment and the spray booth to ensure optimum performance and a safe working environment.
- Carry out thorough quality inspections throughout the finishing process, ensuring every item meets Ashcrest Joinery's high standards before leaving the workshop.
- Identify and rectify any defects or imperfections before products are approved for installation or delivery.
- Work closely with the production team to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification.
- Follow all health and safety procedures relating to paints, solvents, finishing materials and spray equipment.
- Contribute to our culture of continuous improvement by suggesting better ways of working, improving efficiency and helping to develop our finishing processes.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Previous experience as a Spray Finisher, Furniture Finisher or Joinery Spray Finisher.
- Experience spraying polyurethane paints and polyurethane lacquer systems.
- Experience preparing MDF, hardwoods and veneered joinery for finishing.
- Experience mixing and matching stains.
- Knowledge of traditional finishing methods, including oiling and waxing.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing consistently high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- A positive attitude and commitment to maintaining exceptionally high standards.
Desirable
- Experience within a bespoke joinery or cabinet making environment.
- Experience working with high-end residential joinery.
- Knowledge of colour matching and specialist finishing techniques.
