Department: Dispute Resolution
Working hours/pattern: 21 hours a week either full days or shorter days to be agreed
Report to: Emma Allen, Director and Head of Department
Purpose of the role
We are looking for a qualified Paralegal to manage a caseload of straightforward matters under the supervision of the Head of Department, while also supporting other fee earners with specific aspects of more complex cases. The successful candidate will undertake specified preparation and day-to-day file management, working with a high degree of independence but subject to supervision, while ensuring that all work is completed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with regulatory, procedural and confidentiality requirements.
Main responsibilities:
1. Set up new files and record all client and matter details on the firm’s case management system
2. Attend clients both in person and on the telephone to provide support in a professional and friendly manner
3. Preparing initial drafts of routine legal documents and correspondence under supervision
4. To record accurately any attendance details following discussions/meetings with the client
5. Provide ethical services and the highest quality of client care, acting in the best interests of the client at all times
6. As and when appropriate, sit in on client meetings, supporting the head of department with the provision of services on their matters
7. Conduct research on behalf of the head of department
8. Undertake specific training when required to do so and take responsibility towards self-development
9. Attend Fishers events as and when reasonably requested to do so.
10. Undertake any other reasonable duties that may be made by the Head of Department or another Director.
SKILLS QUALIFICAITON AND EXPERIENCE
We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable individual who is a natural team player. The successful candidate will have experience as a paralegal in dispute resolution and will enjoy working in varied roles where no two days are the same!

1. Paralegal qualification through CLT, Cilex or equivalent (E)
2. A minimum of 2 years experience in a law firm (E)
3. IT proficient with Microsoft ‘Word’, ‘Excel’ and ‘Outlook’; (E)
4. Professional and courteous manner; (E)
5. Excellent communication skills (E)
6. Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines (E)
7. Must be able to work as a team member and also be able to work on own initiative (E)
