The Role
As a Funeral Operative with William Purves you will provide the highest standards of professionalism, care, and service to our communities. You will assist Funeral Directors to conduct funeral services, drive funeral vehicles in cortege and provide a 24 hour on call service as part of a rota system. This role is based in our Ashington office and covers all areas of Northumberland.
Job Description
- Assist the Funeral Directors in all funeral duties required to fulfil client’s instruction.
- Ensure the funeral fleet is presented to the highest standards of appearance, including regular valet and maintenance.
- Assist in the identification, removal and transport of the deceased in a dignified, caring and compassionate manner.
- Develop and maintain business relationships with external parties such as clergy, florists and crematoria staff.
- Participate in an on call rota to maintain a 24 hour service.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within the funeral home.
- Ensure all health and safety regulations are followed during operational activities.
- Contribute to maintaining a respectful and professional environment at all times.

- A driving licence is essential for this roll
Salary and benefits
- Starting salary of £25,680 that will increase to £26,703.73 after successful initial 6 months.
- 35 hours per week and required on call shifts.
