We are part of the Express Engineering Group who employ more than 300 employees across the two companies, Express Engineering (Gateshead) and Express Engineering (Fabrications) (trading as QA Weld Tech).
We are currently seeking an experienced Conventional Machinist to join our team.
To be successful in this Conventional Machinist role at Express Engineering, you will:
- Be a time served tool maker or machinist with experience of operating a range of manual machines
- Essential machining skills; Turning, Milling and Grinding
- Fanuc experience preferred but not essential
- Experience of working in a Machining / Industrial Engineering environment
- Have an understanding of tolerances, geometric tolerances, and surface finishes
- Have the ability to use measuring equipment such as micrometres, verniers, plug gauges, screw plugs and ring gauges
- Be familiar with a wide range of materials including Non-Ferrous, Aluminium, Alloy Steel, Stainless Steel, Inconel, and Titanium
- Have a can-do attitude and work well with others in a team environment
- Be flexible in your approach - willing to work overtime when required to suit customer requirements
- Be willing to increase your knowledge and train on other machining processes
- Be willing to pass on your knowledge and train others
As with all positions, due to the nature and varying demands of our business, the responsibilities and tasks are not limited to this overview and may change to meet future demands.
You will be working over a number of shift patterns including night shift which attracts an allowance of 29.25% of basic rate per hour. Overtime is paid at time and half.
