Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic 16–19 Programme Lead / Trainee Teacher to support young learners in their educational journey. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about education, with or without prior teaching experience, to develop their skills within a supportive environment. The position involves working closely with students to enhance their academic progress, behaviour management, and personal development, particularly within special education settings. The successful candidate will be committed to fostering a positive learning atmosphere and helping students achieve their full potential.

This role will provide full training with the successful candidate working towards a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills) / Certificate in Education (CertEd). You will work alongside a training mentor for the duration of your programme.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the needs of 16–19-year-old learners, including those requiring special education support.
Support students in developing essential skills, including English language proficiency and behavioural management strategies.
Assist in creating a nurturing classroom environment that promotes respect, motivation, and active participation.
Implement behaviour management techniques to maintain a safe and productive learning space.
Provide personalised tutoring sessions to address individual learning needs and help improve academic performance.
Collaborate with colleagues and external specialists to develop tailored programmes that support student progress.
Monitor student progress through assessments and regular feedback, adjusting teaching methods accordingly.
Contribute to the organisation of extracurricular activities and programme events that enrich the student experience.
Maintain clear communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student development and programme activities.

Requirements

A genuine interest in working with young people aged 16–19, particularly those requiring additional educational support.
Experience or knowledge of special education needs (SEN) is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for successful candidates.
Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to motivate and engage students effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to foster positive relationships with students and colleagues.
Previous experience in teaching or tutoring is advantageous but not mandatory; a willingness to learn is essential.
Proficiency in English language instruction or literacy support is preferred.
Organised, patient, adaptable, and committed to professional development within an educational setting.

Note £28,000 FTE / Pro Rota
