Job Summary
We are seeking reliable and experienced C+E / Class 1 Drivers to join our team based at our Coalville, Leicestershire depot. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all traffic regulations and company policies. This role requires a strong commitment to safety and professionalism.
We operate a varied fleet of trailers including flatbeds, semi low loaders and low loaders, for transporting general and abnormal loads for the construction, fabrication and engineering sectors.
Working hours: Monday to Friday – Guaranteed 45 hrs per week + overtime after 9 hrs
44 Tonne Rate: 9hrs per day at £15.25 p/h = £686.25 p/w
Overtime after 9hrs weekday / first 5hrs Saturday £16.50 p/h
Overtime after 5hrs Saturday / Sunday £20.00 p/h
Average 2-3 nights out per week paid at £26 per night
*Once relevant experience gained in house, there could be potential to move wider / heavier STGO loads, which would be paid at higher wage rates.

Duties
- Load, secure and transport customers goods on open / flatbed trailers to various locations.
- Ensure the safe loading and unloading of cargo, securing using straps &/or chains for transport.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working order.
- Communicate effectively regarding delivery schedules, movement orders and any issues that may arise.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, addressing any concerns or questions from clients.
Qualifications
- Valid LGV/HGV Class 1 driving licence (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience driving and securing loads preferred.
- Familiarity with operating flatbed vehicles is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of UK geographically
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely deliveries.
- A commitment to safety practices and procedures while on the road.
Role Specific Responsibilities
- Basic requirements as identified in the our Company Handbook
- Drive to a safe standard, considering the size of the vehicle
- Keep within the speed limits for the type and size of the vehicle you are driving
- Ensure that Vehicle daily checks are completed and that any defects are reported
- Report any issues and collect all paperwork from the Traffic Office
- Check load details and carry out deliveries as per instructions / paperwork. Report any discrepancies immediately to the Traffic Office, also any issues arising that impact the delivery schedule
- Contact the Traffic Office when deliveries have been made for next instruction
- Return all paperwork to the Traffic Office on return to depot
- Wear the supplied uniform and correct PPE for each task as required by the Health & Safety Executive. Minimum requirements are Safety Boots and Hi-Viz jacket/vest
