Accounts Assistant

Location: Inverness (Hybrid Working)
Hours: Part-time or Full-time considered
Salary: Competitive hourly rate, based on experience and demonstrated proficiency with Xero, QuickBooks and bookkeeping.

Inshes Bookkeeping provides reliable, accurate and friendly bookkeeping and financial administration services to businesses across a range of industries. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional client service, maintaining high standards of accuracy and building long-term relationships with our clients.

We're looking for an experienced and organised Accounts Assistant to join our growing team. This is a hybrid role, combining home working with office-based work in Inverness as required.

The Role

You'll be responsible for supporting a portfolio of clients with their day-to-day bookkeeping and finance administration. This is a hands-on position requiring someone who can work independently, manage multiple deadlines and maintain excellent attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Processing purchase and sales invoices
Bank reconciliations
Credit card and expense reconciliations
Preparing and submitting VAT returns
Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records
Processing supplier payments
Assisting with payroll administration (desirable)
Liaising with clients to obtain financial information and resolve queries
Maintaining digital records and ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements
Supporting month-end and year-end processes
General finance and administrative duties

Essential Requirements

Previous hands-on bookkeeping or accounts experience is essential
Strong working knowledge of Xero and QuickBooks Online
Confident completing bank reconciliations and preparing VAT returns
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Strong organisational and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple client deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
Professional and confident communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Good working knowledge of Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail and Drive)

Desirable Skills & Experience

AAT qualification (or currently studying towards one)
Payroll experience
Experience working within an accountancy practice or bookkeeping business
Knowledge of Dext, Hubdoc or similar document capture software
