Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-driven Trainee Geospatial Technician to join our growing geomatics team at Surveybase. This is a long-term career opportunity within the surveying, engineering and digital construction sector, offering structured development from trainee level through to senior technical roles.
You will work with advanced 3D laser scan data and industry-standard software to deliver high-quality outputs supporting a wide range of projects, including heritage buildings, residential developments, commercial properties and public sector assets. The role provides hands-on exposure to real project data from day one, supporting the delivery of accurate and reliable spatial information used in design and construction workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and interpret 3D laser scan and point cloud data
- Produce accurate 2D CAD drawings including plans, elevations and sections using AutoCAD
- Support development of 3D BIM models using Autodesk Revit
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, consistency and quality control across deliverables
- Collaborate with survey teams and project managers to support project delivery
- Contribute to continuous improvement of digital survey workflows and standards
Training and Development
- Structured 3-month induction and training programme at our Chilcompton office near Bristol
- Hybrid working model following successful completion of training (4 days office, 1 day remote)
- Ongoing technical mentoring and structured development pathway
- Exposure to real-world survey datasets and project delivery workflows
Candidate Profile
We are looking for individuals who:
- Live within one hour of the Chilcompton office (Bristol / Bath region)
- Have some experience in AutoCAD or similar CAD platforms (minimum 1 year preferred)
- Show strong interest in geospatial surveying, construction or digital design
- Are highly accurate, methodical and detail focused
- Have strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Are eager to develop technical capability in CAD and BIM environments
