No experience needed. Bring the attitude, we'll teach the rest.
Trainee Tyre Fitter, £31,500 | Ballymoney | Full time, Permanent
Kerr's Tyres started as one man's idea, to run tyre and auto centres properly, treat customers and colleagues right, and the rest follows. Norman Kerr had that idea over twenty years ago, and he's still leading the business today. What's new is the backing, fresh investment to take that same model and scale it across Ireland and the UK. Growth means we'd rather train the right people than wait for them to appear ready made.
THE OPPORTUNITY, IN NUMBERS
- Founder led since day one. Norman Kerr still runs the business he built
- Backed by new investment to fund UK and Ireland wide growth
- Farmer Autocare's 21 Scottish centres joined the group in 2026
- Building towards 50+ centres in Ireland and 250 across the UK and Ireland
- Hiring around 20 roles across the Ireland part of the group right now, because we're growing
What the job is
You'll learn to fit, balance and repair tyres in a real, busy centre, trained hands on by experienced fitters. Most people are competent in the core work within their first month. It's physical, practical work, and you'll see the results of it all day, every day. No qualifications needed, no experience needed. You start at the bottom of a clear ladder, Trainee, Fitter, Senior Fitter, Centre Manager, and we train you up it. Our Centre Manager in Antrim started exactly where you would.
What you'll learn to do
- Fit, remove, replace and repair tyres, and repair punctures
- Set correct pressures and carry out wheel balancing
- Basic safety checks and looking after customers properly
- Working safely, lifting properly and keeping your area right
What you'll bring
- Reliability and punctuality, we'll be counting on you from day one
- The physical fitness for hands on work
- A genuine willingness to learn and take pride in a job done right
What you'll earn
£31,500 per year, so you're rewarded properly from day one. Training is on the job and paid from day one, and most trainees are competent in the core work within 3 to 4 weeks.
Plus a bonus, paid monthly in arrears, against clear monthly targets: hit 100% of target and you earn £200 that month, hit 120% and that rises to £400. Keep hitting 120% consistently and that's £4,800 in bonus across the year, a realistic £36,300 in total for fitters performing at the top of the range, the same scheme as our experienced fitters from day one. We'll show you exactly how it's calculated, and back you with regular coaching so hitting it is realistic, not theoretical.
Plus £10 for every wheel alignment you carry out, when your centre's alignment KPI is met.
For colleagues under 18, hours and pay are adjusted in line with UK employment law for young workers. We'll talk you through exactly what that means for you at offer stage.
Where it can take you
From Trainee, to Fitter, to Senior Fitter, to Centre Manager. People in this business have made exactly that journey.
