Full-Time | 8:30am – 5:00pm

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, adaptable, and motivated Learning Mentor to support students with special educational needs both within school and, where required, through our transition and outreach programmes.

This varied role involves working closely with teaching staff to help students access learning, develop independence, and make meaningful progress academically, socially, and emotionally.

You may also support individual students on a 1:1 basis in their home or another agreed setting when they are unable to attend school as part of a planned transition or outreach programme.

Key ResponsibilitiesSupporting Students

Build positive, trusting relationships with student.
Support student with autism, ADHD anxiety, EBSA, and moderate learning difficulties.
Encourage engagement, independence, confidence, and social development.
Help student access learning activities and participate fully in school life.
Deliver planned interventions and learning activities under the guidance of teaching staff.
Support student with communication needs and varying learning styles.
Provide appropriate emotional support and assist with behaviour management strategies.

Supporting Teaching and Learning

Work closely with teachers to deliver high-quality learning experiences.
Contribute to planning, monitoring, and reviewing student progress.
Prepare learning resources and classroom environments.
Support the use of technology to enhance learning.
Assist with examinations and assessments when required.
Help maintain a safe, engaging, and well-organised learning environment.

Supporting the Wider School Community

Attend staff meetings, training sessions, briefings, and parent events as required.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals.
Promote the school's values and positive culture.
Contribute to educational visits, enrichment activities, and school events.
Support safeguarding, health and safety, and student wellbeing at all times.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

Has a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with SEND.
Is resilient, patient, and empathetic.
Can build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Communicates effectively and works well as part of a team.
Is organised, flexible, and proactive.
Has experience working with children or young people with additional needs (desirable but not essential).
Holds a full driving licence and has access to a vehicle (desirable due to outreach elements of the role).
